What we cover

An online store can have an excellent product and still underperform, because visibility and conversion are separate problems that both need solving. We start with a technical and competitive audit of your store, identifying exactly where you are losing organic traffic and where competitors are outranking you.

From there, we build an SEO strategy around product visibility and qualified traffic, not vanity keywords, and continue optimizing as your catalog, your competitors, and search algorithms all keep changing.

FAQ

How long does e-commerce SEO take?

It depends on the size of the catalogue, the competition in your niche and the state of the store. Technical fixes and new category pages are usually picked up within weeks, and the first changes you can see in Search Console usually come within about three months. Steady growth on competitive queries takes longer, often six to twelve months of regular work. Nobody can promise a specific position in Google, and we do not.

How much does e-commerce SEO cost?

A store structure audit is a one-time project from $2,500. Ongoing work starts at $2,500 a month for Essential (up to about 1,000 products, one market), $5,000 a month for Growth (1,000 to 10,000 products, one or two markets) and $8,000 a month for Scale (catalogues above 10,000 products, or several markets and languages). Advertising budgets are separate, and we plan engagements for at least six months. All terms are fixed in a service agreement.

What analytics tools do you use?

We use Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, and Semrush for tracking rankings, traffic, and competitor analysis.

Is a contract signed?

Yes, we always work under a signed agreement. It sets out the scope of work, the stages, the timeline and the indicators we report on every month, including the search queries we track.

Do you optimize individual product pages, or just category pages?

Both. Product pages typically drive the most conversions, so we optimize titles, descriptions, structured data, and internal linking at the product level, not just category and collection pages.

How do you handle SEO for out-of-stock or seasonal products?

We set up rules for handling out-of-stock pages to avoid losing rankings, and plan seasonal content and category structure ahead of peak periods so pages are ready to rank before demand spikes.

Do you provide competitor analysis as part of the SEO strategy?

Yes, we analyze competitor rankings, content gaps, and backlink profiles to identify opportunities, then build the strategy around where you can realistically win market share in search.

Should the pages our filters create be indexed?

Only a few of them. A filter combination deserves its own indexable page when people search for it on its own, when it holds enough products to be a real selection, when the assortment is stable and when it answers a different need from its category. Brand and product type often qualify; sorting, sizes and most multi-filter combinations do not. The rest stay available to shoppers but are kept out of the index with canonical, noindex or robots.txt rules, chosen for each type of page.

We are moving the store to another platform. How do we keep its search traffic?

Start the SEO work before development, not after launch. Every old address, including filter landing pages, old categories and URL variants, is mapped to its new one while the old store is still live, and the map is tested on the new store before the domain moves. Google asks for permanent server-side redirects kept generally at least a year. On Shopify, addresses under /products and /collections cannot be redirected, so a move to or from Shopify changes most of them. After launch we watch indexing, new 404 errors and the key pages for at least six weeks.

Do we need Google Shopping ads to show our products in Google?

Not necessarily. Through free listings in Google Merchant Center, products can appear at no cost on Google Search, the Shopping tab, Google Images and other Google surfaces, although Google does not guarantee that they will be shown. Google recommends both Product markup on the pages and a Merchant Center feed, with the same price and availability in each. Ads add paid placements on top of that; our Google Shopping ads management starts from $1,000 a month, and the ad budget is paid to Google separately.

Can AI assistants and shopping agents buy from our store?

Some can, in some stores. In our October 2026 test of 15 well-known US stores, an AI agent in a browser put the right product in the cart in 11; four stores stopped it with bot checks, a waiting page or a button that failed without an error. A request without a browser got the product page from only 6 stores. We check what your bot protection does to such agents, whether the checkout price matches the product page and whether your product data describes variants, shipping and returns. Whether to let agents buy is your business decision; the point is to make it on purpose.

Is crawl budget a problem for our store?

Usually not by the number of products alone. Google's crawl budget guide is written for sites with more than a million unique pages that change weekly, or more than 10,000 pages that change daily, and calls these rough estimates. A mid-size store with open filters can still create far more addresses than it has products, so we count the URLs in a full crawl and look at the Page Indexing report in Search Console. If many product pages sit as discovered but not indexed, we cut the useless filter addresses first.
