When WordPress is enough
WordPress fits when the site is mostly pages, posts and forms, the rules are standard and nobody plans to grow it into a business system. Laravel is for a site that carries rules of your own: prices that depend on the customer, client accounts, approvals, links to a CRM or an ERP, a load that keeps growing. It costs more to build and needs a team that knows it, so settle who will maintain the site before you settle what it runs on. More in Laravel or WordPress for a Business Website.
Signs the business has grown
There is no magic number: not 20 plugins, not 100 pages. The signs are different: the plugin stack becomes the actual product, performance degrades quietly and then suddenly, maintenance starts outgrowing the business and the company's logic stops mapping to plugins. The full list is in When Does a Business Outgrow WordPress?. Diagnose before you move: sometimes the problem is poor maintenance, an outdated theme or too many plugins, not the platform.
Security
Patchstack counted 11,334 new vulnerabilities in the WordPress ecosystem in 2025, 42% more than in 2024: 91% in plugins, 9% in themes and only 6 in core.
